(1)- SPIDEY NABS A CROOK -- An Australian comic book store owner said he was dressed as Spider-Man for a promotion when -- with the help of two Jedi Knights -- he stopped a thief who had grabbed a $150 book, the "X-Man Omnibus," from a window display.
(2)- UBUNTU??? -- Ubuntu is an operating system built by a worldwide team of expert developers. It contains all the applications you need: a web browser, office suite, media apps, instant messaging and much more.
(3)- OLIVE OIL RULES -- British researchers Dr. Andrew Hart and colleagues say eating a couple of tablespoons of olive oil daily helps prevent ulcerative colitis, an intestinal disease characterized by pain, diarrhea and weight loss.
(4)- WHY? -- Why haven't we had a successful terrorist attack in so long--only the moody-loner-with-handgun-or-plane type attacks that usually fizzle? Tim Noah explored that question a while back and came to some conclusions.
(5)- NOT BROCCOLI -- while just about every vegetable — onions, asparagus, tomatoes, corn, beets, even kale — is readily available on a shelf, I've never seen broccoli that comes in a tin. Why doesn't canned broccoli exist?
(6)- PTSD -- Curing post-traumatic stress disorder is a top Pentagon priority. An estimated 1 in 5 Iraq/ Afghanistan vets suffer from PTSD. The military considers anything, including yoga, dog therapy and acupuncture to alleviate symptoms.
(7)- HAWKING ON TIME TRAVEL -- A wormhole is a theoretical 'tunnel,'linking two places in space-time - visualised as the contours of a 3-D map, where negative energy pulls space and time into a tunnel mouth, emerging in another universe.
(8)- MUSCLE UP -- Scientists have created an artificial material that mimics the tough, stretchy properties of muscle. The material could find a potential application as a "scaffold" to aid muscle regeneration.
(9)- YOU GOTTA SLEEP -- A new study accepted for publication in The Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, says just one night of short sleep duration can induce insulin resistance, a component of type 2 diabetes.
