(1)- PLASTICS PERIL -- Plastics accumulate in garbage dumps and landfills and sully the oceans. Plastics and their additives are inside virtually every one of us -- in our blood and urine, ingested with the food we eat and the water we drink.
(2)- RUNNING DANGER – Study shows elite long-distance runners have less body fat, better cholesterol and blood lipid profiles, and better heart rates than people being tested for cardiac disease. Paradoxically, however....
(3)- MINDING YOUR SHOWER BUSINESS -- Do you enjoy long showers with a friend? Invite the Waterpebble to join you ... it's small, cute, affordable and will help you save both water and money. Warns you when you shower too long.
(4)- EXPLAINING TOYOTA WOES -- Toyota vehicles have a problem with sudden, uncontrollable acceleration. It's been variously attributed to faulty circuits and driver error, but the real culprit might be radiation from beyond the skies.
(5)- TATTOO CONTENDER – This tattoo is regarded as a contender for admission to the roster of important and impressive tatoos. It's been called “completely freaking awesome Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem tattoo for a very lucky Muppet-fan.”
(6)- AT MUSEUMS -- New York’s American Museum of Natural History: a terrarium of dung beetles plowing through waste; New Orleans’s Audubon Insectarium: an array of physics demonstrations -- visitors play with sand, balls, pendulums and bubbles.
(7)- DISCOVERING TOCQUEVILLE – Alexis de Tocqueville didn't get everything right about Americans, but understanding him as a real, flawed observer makes his achievement more impressive.
(8)- AUTHORSHIP DEBATE -- Whether or not the claim of Shakespeare is legitimate, the burden of proof lies on those who discredit the Bard. On the other hand, it's only fair to give attention to this debate as it has been ongoing since the 1700s.
(9)- NEWSPAPER WAR REPORT -- Seized delivery vans, murderous editors, irate blog posts, allegations of insanity, Church of Satan ties, illegal predatory-pricing schemes, it’s the crazy alt-weekly war in San Francisco.
