(1)- RUSSIAN JUSTICE -- Russia's Supreme Court orders a fresh trial for two Chechen brothers and a former police officer, who were charged with low-level involvement in a reporter's murder as lookouts and couriers.
(2)- NAUGHTY KID -- Police have described him as a ‘one-boy wave of terror’ and even his mother refers to him as the ‘Satan child’. He's only 12, but he has been expelled from three schools and terrorised neighbours countless times.
(3)- DANGER -- Chicago has the distinction of holding four places on a list of nations's 25 most dangerous neighborhoods. FBI researchers made a list of areas with the highest predicted rates of violent crime in the United States.
(4)- ITALIAN NEWS MEDIA -- Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi owns Italy’s three main commercial TV channels and they have played down recent scandals surrounding his private life. Berlusconi calls scandal reports “rubbish.”
(5)- SNAKE EXPERIMENT -- Scientists at the Savannah River Ecology Lab in South Carolina want to know, can Burmese pythons that have been spreading north in Florida survive in places like the Carolinas, or Tennessee?
(6)- NOT AGEING -- Doctors all over the world are intrigued by the case of a sixteen year old girl who is the size of an infant, and is showing no signs of growing any larger.
(7)- PLACEBO -- The term “placebo effect” is unfortunate; it leads to misunderstandings. Placebos themselves don’t have any effect. They are inert: that’s what placebo means. The word placebo comes from the Latin.
(8)- WHO WAS TROTSKY?? -- Trotsky was in fact a revolutionary nom de plume, which the young Marxist militant Lev Davidovich Bronstein borrowed from one of his jailors in pre-revolutionary Russia.
(9)- BEAUTY NOW – Enlightenment Philosophers saw beauty as a way in which lasting moral and spiritual values acquire sensuous form. No Romantic painter, musician, or writer would have denied that beauty was the final purpose of his art.
