WEB BOHEMIAN (Thursday, August 16, 2012)
(1)- CONTROVERSY OVER REINCARNATION -- We start with a baby caterpillar that lives a full life and then dies, dissolves. There's a pause. Then a new animal, the moth, springs to life, from the same cells, reincarnated.

(2)- LOST Da VINCI -- Is this painting found hanging on the wall of a Scottish farmhouse one of the master's works worth £100m? Experts believe it is… Details are discussed in this article.

(3)- BRUCE -- The musical decline of Bruce Springsteen has been obvious for decades. The sanctimony, the grandiosity, the utterly formulaic monumentality; the witlessness; the tiresome recycling…

(4)- ROBERT HUGHES --  His prose was lithe, muscular and fast as a bunch of fives. He was incapable of writing art world jargon, and consequently was treated by its mandarins with fear and loathing. Much he cared.

(5)-THE TARANTULA NEBULA – It’s huge beyond comprehension: it’s 650 light years cross, or nearly 4 quadrillion miles in size. This image, full of complexity, and chaos represents only about 6% of the entire nebula.

(6)- IT’S WHAT WE DON’T KNOW -- The era of world struggle between the great secular ideological -isms that began with the French Revolution and lasted through the Cold War is passing on to a religious stage.

(7)- BERNARD VON NOTHAUS – He ran the most successful alternative currency in the country. Then the FBI raided his strip mall headquarters, arrested him, and seized eight tons of gold and silver backing the notes.

(8)- RETARDED OR NOT? -- Texas is scheduled to execute a man supporters claim is mentally retarded -- which would violate federal law. But others say it's just more anti-death penalty propaganda.

(9)- MEDIA -- Berkeley physicist Richard Muller was all over the media last week talking about his “total turnaround” from global-warming skeptic to adherent of the longstanding scientific consensus that the planet is heating up. The question is: Did he deserve the attention?
