(1)- WHAT ARE AUROCHS? -- Caesar called them “elephantine creatures
prone to unprovoked attack.” Much later, Nazi ideology, a zookeeper named
Konrad Lorenz, and the Heck brothers revived the brutal breed.
(2)- THE WRONG WITCH -- There was once a magical empire of
letters called Central Europe. Its borders were fuzzy but recognizable. Vienna
was its capital. The receding Ottoman Empire provided more of its territory.
(3)- EVOLVING ENGLISH -- A physicist has crunched through 5.2
million books published over five centuries in order to analyze the way the
English language has changed over time. Fascinating results.
(4)- UNINTENDED -- In 1982, 37% of U.S. births were unintended, according to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And guess what?
In 2010, 37% of
U.S. births (most recent year for data), were unintended.
(5)- CONSCIOUSNESS -- The origin of consciousness has to be one
of the biggest mysteries of all time, occupying philosophers and scientists for
generations. An important clue was discovered some 90 years ago.

not that I don’t care about anything. One must be careful discussing nothing.
