WEB BOHEMIAN (Friday, July 27, 2012)
(1)- QUANTUM MECHANICS & GOD -- How, one might ask, can quantum mechanics have anything to say about the human mind?  Isn’t it about things that can be physically measured, such as particles and forces?  It is; but…

(2)- THE TRUTH ABOUT TRUTH -- The essentialist and existentialist positions share one crucial insight into the human condition: whatever we are, we are in some sense not what we are.

(3)- ALEXANDER COCKBURN -- He became known as an unapologetic leftist, condemning what he saw as the outrages of the right but also castigating the American liberal establishment when he thought it was being timid.

(4)- SPACE SMELLS -- Our extraterrestrial explorers are remarkably consistent in describing Space Scent in meaty-metallic terms.  Every astronaut reports space has its own definte odor; a faint acrid smell.

(5)- COLUMNIST ADVICE NEEDED -- Is there any way I can ask my husband not to attend the birth of our 2nd baby? During the first birth, my husband was useless, didn’t do anything I had asked him to do before labor…

(6)- A PRECURSOR OF THINGS TO COME -- Scientists create a free-swimming 'jellyfish' out of silicone seeded with living heart muscle cells. The event marks a big step towards the development of an artificial heart.

(7)- COMPLAINTS – An Austrian farmer has been court-ordered to remove the cowbells from his cattle. Neighbors complained that the ringing of several bovine bells clanging against metal kept them awake at night…

(8)- NOW WE KNOW -- Unique arm morphology in Neanderthals was likely caused by scraping activities such as hide preparation, not spear thrusting as previously theorized, according to new research.

(9)- NEW TO TEXAS -- The Army Corps of Engineers introduces a foreign insect (the alligator weed flea beetle) into The Dallas Floodway Extension to save the local ecosystem from an invasive plant species.
