(1)- SCANDAL -- A spectre is haunting Europe, and this
time it is the spectre of plagiarism and scientific misconduct. Some
high-profile politicians have had to resign in the last 18 months. Worse to
come.
(2)- KILLING BONES -- The criminal trade in Native American
archaeological artifacts always seemed ahead of law enforcement. But when cops
learned that a notorious antiquities collector went from grave robbing to
murder…
(3)- TRYING TO PROVE IT -- Bill Ferguson doesn’t believe his son
killed a popular news editor. To prove it, he’s drained his savings, performed
public re-enactments of the crime, and alienated almost everyone…
(4)- A
1981 REPORT ON THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY -- Charles's grandmother is thrilled. Diana was the candidate
she had been pushing all along. The Queen Mother liked Lord Mountbatten's
candidates (his granddaughters).
(5)- ORIGINAL SPIDER MAN ART -- … just sold for a record $675,250. The
cover art to "Amazing Spider-Man" no. 328 from 1990 now becomes the
most expensive piece of original American comic art.
(6)- DARPA DOES IT? -- The military wants to boost vaccine
production for the deadly flu, and so Darpa spends million on veggie-based
vaccine research with tobacco plants like these at North Carolina greenhouse.
(7)- NONE CARE -- The religious faiths of President Barack Obama and
Republican challenger Mitt Romney will have little weight in November's
presidential election, a new poll of 2,300 registered voters shows.
(8)- THEY WERE EVERYWHERE -- Brian Corbin says it might sound
far-fetched but he’s 100 per cent sure there is a German U-boat lying on the
bottom of Labrador’s Churchill River more than 200 kilometres from the coast.
(9)- FROM WHENCE SNAKES? -- One of the most primitive snake fossils
ever found hints the slithery reptiles originated on land, probably emerging
from a line of burrowing reptiles that lost their legs not from the sea.
