WEB BOHEMIAN Weekend Edition (Saturday/Sunday, May 8-9, 2010)
(1)- NEANDERTHAL IN SOMEOF US -- The first rough draft of the Neanderthals' genome suggests that they interbred with our own species - but only enough to leave a tiny mark on the genetic code of humans from outside Africa.

(2)- CALIFORNIA AT FAULT -- More than 50 new surface earthquake faults have been discovered in California over the last two decades, according to a new state map officials say will guide future development decisions and emergency planning.

(3)- DISGRACEFUL CLEESE -- John Cleese admits the three decade age gap between him and his new girlfriend is ''inappropriate'' and a ''disgrace.'' Hey! He's John Cleese.

(4)- MORE RED PLEASE -- Researchers say red wine protects the brain from stroke damage. They found a molecular pathway in mice that may explain the protective effect of resveratrol -- a compound found in the skins and seeds of red grapes.

(5)- NO DOUBT -- When we fall under the spell of a charismatic figure, areas of the brain responsible for scepticism and vigilance become less active. So says a study of response to someone purportedly possessing divine healing powers.

(6)- A VIEW -- Our government is actually doing a pretty good job of providing role models for the 20 percent of American women who don’t want kids. Where it’s failing is in providing role models for the 80 percent that do.

(7)- WOW! I GUESS -- Elusive dark matter around clusters of galaxies often clumps into cigar shapes, new observations show. Scientists may now understand dark matter, which is the mystifying stuff thought to exist invisibly all around us.

(8)- CHINA VERSUS U.S. -- The world's two great powers are growing dangerously hostile to one another. Could this be worse than the cold war?

(9)- SCIENCE?? – Science philosophers recognize science as a diverse, social enterprise that has changed, developed different methodologies in different subsciences, and often advanced by taking putative pseudoscience seriously.
