(1)- RICHAT STRUCTURE -- The Richat Structure is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara desert of Mauritania near Ouadane. It has attracted attention since the earliest space missions because it forms a conspicuous bull’s-eye in the desert.

(2)- MEAT-EATING PLANT -- The largest meat-eating plant in the world is designed not to eat small animals, but small animal poo. Botanists refer to the giant montane pitcher plant of Borneo with a pitcher the size of a tree shrew's body.

(3)- WEALTH DATA -- Excluding vehicles, single black women have a median wealth of $100 and Hispanic women $120 respectively, while their same-race male counterparts have $7,900 and $9,730. The median wealth of single white women is $41,500.

(4)- MAINE POTATOS -- Agricultural officials say the value of Maine's 2009 potato crop came in at more than $150 million last year. The National Agricultural Statistics Service said that's up 5 percent from 2008.

(5)- PI -- the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle, has captivated imaginations for thousands of years -- even since the first person tried to draw a perfect circle or wondered how to construct something round like a wheel.

(6)- REALLY WEIRD -- IT may be a stag party too far. After a night of binge drinking and strippers, young Britons are being invited to work off their hangovers on a tour of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Holocaust groups are appalled.

(7)- BIRTH CHANCES -- The death rate of women giving birth in the US is worse than in 40 other countries, including nearly all the industrialized countries. Amnesty International says the US approach to maternity is "disgraceful and scandalous.”

(8)- AURORA BOREALIS -- Northern lights are a phenomenon that is not completely understood. The aurora gets its name from the Roman goddess of dawn. An Eskimo tale tells us that the lights are sprits in the sky playing catch with a walrus skull.

(9)- IRS STUPIDITY -- Arriving at Harv's Metro Car Wash in Sacromento were two dark-suited IRS agents demanding payment of delinquent taxes. The letter hand-delivered to the on-site manager showed the amount of money owed was 4 cents.
